Self care - 1

  • Drinking a glass of lemon water ( drinking water + fresh lemon squeezed) when I wake up has helped me with my stomach issues quite a bit.
I started doing this as I read it helps with inflammation and helps with digestion. After doing this for a while, I realized when I don't drink it, stomach pain and bloating increases. Remember every small dent you make to reduce any pain goes a long way in the long run in chronic pain conditions.  Also I realized to test if something is working or not, in the chaos of everything going on, this is one solid way. After doing it for sometime, stop, and then try to be aware of the effect of stopping.

  • I know it is hard with different responsibilities you already have. But you need to make 20-30 minutes in the daytime to have a power nap/rest.
I do a variation of this nap but this is super important to help you to get through the day better. Even if you are in slightly less pain by the end of the day, it will mean slightly better sleep and you feeling a little better next day ( and the cycle will continue). You won't notice any improvements in the first few months but you see the benefit after that.
There is a little bit of a trick here. When you take a power nap, you need to make sure you don't go into deep sleep cycle and get woken up then, which will make things worse. So what I do is I put on head phones and listen to somebody talking with music in the background while lying down ( you can listen to something which you are interested in). Even if I sleep, I am always woken up by the change in tone in the light sleep mode only. You will soon realize you are doing your own version of meditation and you will see the benefits of it.

  • When you have pain day in and day out, every single new aberration matters. We are more prone to injuries as I feel we are not well balanced due to loose joints. This makes after care every important. If you get a paper cut, make sure you attend to it immediately ( like applying neosprin or turmeric etc) and continue to do it till the injury goes. This goes to simple things like dry skin too. Make sure to moisturize yourself. Every small thing matters
